Card cloning occurs when cybercriminals copy the details of debit or credit card to make duplicates and use them for unauthorised transactions. Information is stolen through skimming devices, online scams, or malware. Hidden devices at ATMs steal card details and PINs, and sometimes the card is secretly swiped twice at a restaurant, once for payment and once on a skimmer.
