A Stanford University study analysing more than 3,91,000 messages from chat logs of 19 individuals reported AI chatbots validating delusional beliefs in over 70% of their responses. The research, mostly involving OpenAI's GPT-4o model, found over 45% of all messages from users and chatbots showing signs of delusional thinking. In nearly 38% of such messages, replies described users as "genius".
