The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is preparing to strengthen testing and hallmarking infrastructure for silver jewellery and articles as demand for silver grows and some consumers increasingly look beyond gold. The move comes at a time when high gold prices have encouraged greater interest in silver, increasing the importance of reliable purity verification for buyers.
