The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has imposed a ₹5 lakh penalty on PhysicsWallah and ₹1 lakh on McAfee for using dark pattern practices that misled consumers and influenced their choices on digital platforms. Both companies have been directed to immediately remove such practices. Dark patterns are deceptive design techniques that nudge users into making unintended purchases.
