China on Wednesday flagged a "backdoor" security risk in US-based AI startup Anthropic's Claude Code. The country's National Vulnerability Database (NVDB) said Claude Code contains an inbuilt monitoring system which can transmit sensitive information to remote servers without consent. The NVDB further asked users to uninstall or upgrade from affected Claude Code versions 2.1.91 through 2.1.196.
