Amid concerns over ethanol-blended petrol, BJP's Amit Malviya said the programme was initiated under the UPA government. A pilot blending programme was launched in 2001 with the official Gazette notification in 2013, he said. "E5 (5% ethanol blending) was rolled out across multiple states by 2006," Malviya informed, adding that "Public debate should be informed by facts, not selective matters."
