The Indian Federation of App-Based Transport Workers (IFAT) urged Ministry of Labour and Employment to mandate heatwave protections under Code on Social Security, 2020. It called for paid cooling breaks, drinking water access, shelters and protection from penalties in severe heat. The body warned that delivery and ride-hailing workers face serious health hazards without mandatory safety measures.
