The Centre launched a nationwide drive to bring informal economic activities under the GST regime to curb tax evasion and broaden the revenue base, a report stated. The drive includes identifying potential taxpayers among food vendors, small retailers, and others who remain outside the GST system. Government believes that more GST registrations mean better compliance and smoother trade.
