Marine insurance companies, including Skuld, NorthStandard, Gard, and others, cancelled their war risk coverage for vessels in the Middle East Gulf amid the war. This comes as Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz and attacked multiple tankers, leaving hundreds of them stranded. These cancellations, effective March 5, mean shipping companies will have to seek new insurance coverage at higher rates.
