Online gaming rules to kick in on May 1, money games avoid ban but set to face tighter control

The Centre notified Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Rules, which are set to take effect on May 1 with the formation of the Online Gaming Authority of India (OGAI). The rules have made registration of online social games voluntary, and have avoided banning money games while tightening their scrutiny. OGAI can also penalise/suspend games that violate rules.
