SEBI has eased margin rules in the commodity derivatives market, allowing positions backed by an early pay-in of certified goods to be exempt from all margins except mark-to-market requirements. The benefit applies when goods are deposited in warehouses accredited by clearing corporations. The move is aimed at improving capital efficiency for traders and hedgers opting for physical settlement.
