The Customs, Excise and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal (CESTAT) quashed a ₹56-lakh service tax case against veteran actor Rajinikanth. The case was in relation to rent from a building, leased to Vasantha Bhavan Hotels for hotel operations, owned by Rajinikanth in Chennai. Rajinikanth was accused of non-payment of service tax on rent for the property leased between 2007 and 2012.
