Why a small salary jump to ₹12.75 lakh income could end marginal tax relief?

A ₹12.75 lakh taxable income after ₹75,000-standard deduction could disqualify marginal tax relief, as it's only applicable if tax payable is more than additional income earned above ₹12 lakh, Moneycontrol reported. Therefore, ₹13.4 lakh income (₹12.65 lakh taxable) will get the relief as tax payable is ₹69,750, while ₹13.5 lakh (₹12.75 lakh taxable) income wouldn't with tax payable at ₹71,250.
