SpaceX is planning to bring all its satellites orbiting the Earth at about 550 km to a lower altitude of about 480 km, SpaceX VP of Engineering Michael Nicolls announced. The move, which will be carried out over 2026, will affect about 4,400 satellites. SpaceX is undertaking the manoeuvre to condense Starlink orbits, increasing space safety in several ways.
